In the Beginning.

My name is De’ana.

Hi.

Last year, in September 2019, just after I finished my very first ultra marathon, I had this brilliant idea. I’d write a blog! I’d tell the world about what I had done, and more importantly, how I had done it. Because surely the world needs another blog written by yet another person who thinks their mediocre achievements warrant applause?

I asked my partner, Mark, to set up the IT side for me and that’s as far as it got. Not too long after that my relatively mild depression got the better of me yet again and I was in no way inclined to expose my perceived flaws to the world.

What has changed , you may ask? Well, I started exercising again. Much to my disgust, exercise does improve my frame of mind. Don’t think I’m joking when I say I hate exercise. I hate spending my time doing something so pointless and uncomfortable when I could be relaxing with a good book. I hate sweating and getting sunburned. I hate the discomfort that comes with running or spending long hours in the saddle on my bike. Unfortunately it appears that to maintain my improved mind set, I need to do what to me is some pretty serious amount of exercise every day. It may not seem a lot to some, but to a confirmed bookworm like me it’s excessive.

Anyways, this blog, if I keep it up, will be what I’ve been doing as exercise, what my exercise-related goals may be at any particular time, the results of whatever online research I’ve been doing as well as whatever drivel I feel like writing on the day. Maybe how I’m coping mentally at the time? Maybe instead of boring my friends with the oh-so-exciting news of my improvements, I’ll put it here. We’ll see how it goes…
